The thrill of hope, a weary world rejoices

"Let's all get lit before we start singing"

This made me smile:

It's the way he rolls

I guess when Britton was cleaning out his closet, well, actually unpacking boxes. He found a Bouncy Ball kit. So here he is, having craft time, making Bouncy Balls in the kitchen. What a man of many skills.

A Vacay fit for a Soccer Mom

It's true, this past weekend, I went on a mini trip suited much more for a Soccer Mom, than a twenty-something girl.
It began with a trip to the Longaberger Homestead, next was a restored Colonial village, and topping off the weekend was a Sunday afternoon drive through Holmes County, an amish area. ....where streets have no names and hotels advertise on silos. Not to fret, I have photos to prove it. Prove, and maybe inspire.
This is me at the Homestead in front of a really big basket of apples. I didn't say "Longaberger" or "Cheese" for that matter.

This was excellent, there were Red Hat Ladies at the Longaberger place...of course!

When an Interior designer and an art major put lights on a tree, this happens. The bottom half's lights turned off and won't come back on!

Changes...2 of 3

I've traded in having my state's website on the plate, to one that looks more like something belonging to Remax.

...the previous survived a brief baptism in Lake Champlain, but couldn't handle being dropped on the ground?
....well, this one takes photos, a redeeming quality within the madness.

Seventy-five cents can buy happiness

Probably the best thrift store find I've ever purchased. He's now found a nice loving home at The Franciscan University at Steubenville with my dear friend Nate.

"I was expecting some kind of cookie or dessert in my box, but the little Franciscan puppet was much much better. I think he may start accompanying me to my classes. Presently he keeps vigil on the post of my bed."

Somehow I know this: (I have no idea how)

December 11 is National Mountian Day.

I'd probably go climb one, a. if it weren't blizzardy and b. if there was one in northeast ohio to climb.

The Great Christmas Tree Chop Down

Today we went to cut down our Christmas tree, old school style with a saw, sled, while trudging through snow. Good times. Last winter it was even snowing as we searched for the perfect tree. Britton and I felt like we should have been in a Point of Grace or Michael W. Smith music video.

This afternoon I was reminded of the last time I went exploring in the woods. It was probably in Smethport, PA on Prospect Hill. I visited my dear friend Jon on my way back home from VT. When we were finishing dinner, Jon's parents suggested that after dinner we take the truck up to Prospect Hill and get some wood. The use for this wood would be for a fire.
For some reason, I imagined that: A. Prospect Hill was the name of a store that sold firewood. or B. Maybe there was a store, or an area at a place called Prospect Hill that had wood. well the reality was option C. We went up to Prospect Hill, onto a dirt road, and then stopped the truck in the middle of the road- and literally went into the woods grabbed some tree limbs and tossed them into the bed of the truck. We spent most of our time, however, on what I called "an archeological dig". I found an electrical topper thing. Then together Jon and I found two more, and because "four is a complete set" we continued to search for the last and fourth one, which we soon found before heading out of the woods and down the hill.

Not the wood we took, I'm sure this belonged to a lumberjack.

A faux "country club" we ran across. Note Jon's popped collar, would you expect anything less from him?

A hilarous sign the Country Club posted.

If God leaves tangible signs in your front yard confirming life choices (cleverly disguised as a bumper sticker), this would be one:
