a cool PA evening, a warm cup of red tea, and I'm back into blogging

i realize it has been... oh a good three months since my last post. i sat here and thought about filling you in on what i have been doing, but that would create a very long blog posts, and who reads ridiculously long blog posts? (susan and I don't)

i'm going to jump right in to today, 10 September 2005.
This weekend there is a festival here in Somerset called "mountain Craft Days" This is a really big deal around Somerset county, given the fact I haven't been in the 'Set at this time of the year, I went to check it out. Basically it's a whole bunch of local people who dress up in 1700's-1800's clothing and demonstrate crafts from that time period, they also have food from that time period as well. A lot of the crafts and industry and cuisine is relative to the local area. It ended up to be quite interesting, in a surprising kind of way- they had papermaking, which was exciting, all except the demonstrators weren't there! so I took it upon myself to demo. there were these really interesting things called ham pot pies, I was under strict orders by britton to eat one for him since he's in gr, mi. when you hear ham pot pie, you probably think chicken pot pie, which makes you think, flakey crust, carrots, potatoes, chicken.....well once again PA gets creative with their food....it was like a stew, but with chunks of ham, and a cross between a noodle and dough. oh PA, I like the fries on top of salads idea better (eat-n-park makes thier salads with fries on top, and there is one of these dining establishments in good ole' mentor,oh..not to fear) so maybe my experience at mountain Craft Days was the norm, but J.Schaller, you know as well as I do, that PA has their own way of bootlegging things.

One more thing- one of the booths was 2 men that had all these animal pelts out, and i'm sure were talking about skinning animals. while I could have taken my khaki corduroy, plaid american eagle button down, jean jacket, mary-janed self over there and had a very educated conversation with these men, I decided to keep walking, smirking slightly to myself as I walked by....
