days of an iwu graduate

i promise the events that have transpired over the past two days have in no way been normal

Monday morning- my mother informs me that we will be going dancing that evening at a local fire hall. now for those of you that don't know what a fire hall is used for, or wonder why dancing takes place at one, i can't really tell you. i have come to realize that most small towns in PA (and there are alot) use them for various community events, yep, fire halls and v.f.w posts (that's tomorrow night)are are a sure shot for a hoppin social time.
apparently this lady really likes dancing and wanted to teach who ever would come for free. well, my church got wind of this gala and now have monday night dinners, followed by dancing. my dad was out of town, and my brother has friends so i dancied with my mom. i know i was bad. my mom said i did pretty well considering i was learning the girl part and then flipped it so i was dancing the guy part. i kept tellimg my mom "i'm the man in this relationship!" it's okay, i know im not a good dancer. john wesley's happy about that one. oh yes, i also danced with my minister... and his son, seth, who is one of my favourite kids in the whole world. all in all it wasn't too bad, but i'm pretty sure i have plans next monday, like deep conditioning my hair or something....

Tuesday- ....a few weeks beofre school was out, britton asked me if i would like to go to a concert with him in Chaleroi, PA to see some non-descript punk bands, i said yes.

well over the course of those weeks some other kids jumped on the bandwagon and decided to come to this show. mark, another hilarious kid, andy, and lindsey (andy's girlfriend). we go, pick britt up from work, he drives us down to the venue. which is oviously at a v.f.w. post...where all the cool things happen. somehow it slipped my mind to wear a black shirt, i tried to blame it on the fact i was still unpacking, but britt and i both knew it was really because i don't have any....four bands played, i can't begin to tell you- they were the most mismatched bands, all in all not too bad, honestly.
britt asked me if i wanted to go back and look at the merchandise tables with him, i told him i didn't have any money, but said sure.
he asked me if there was anything i wanted, to which i reliped "yes! a nice coffee shop, a latte, and some mello acoustic guitar...."

haha.....I have a comment to drop but I don't know who reads this.

Anyway, firehalls. It's pretty much the only place to have a wedding reception unless you really want to drop a buttload of money around here and no one really does. I myself have only attended one firehall reception in town though. Recently we had a restaurant open with a banquet room so they've cooled down a little. But camouflage, buck/doe day, firehalls, and who knows what else have become facts of life that I did not know was unusual until I became older and left town for extended periods of time.
